Day 3 was a day to see the countryside of Ecuador and learn a little more about the culture. It’s also a day to be together as a team and get to know each other more. We learned some new foods, like bizcochos (wood fired cakes) with caramel sauce, guayaba soufflé, and other Ecuadorian dishes. We visited the market in Otovalo for shopping. While there we were able to learn about the indigenous people and their language, Quechuan from two local sisters. Lunch at La Mirage hotel and spa where we were “serenaded” by peacocks. Then we finished the day by visiting the leather goods stores in Cotacachi. Our Ecuadorian angel, Inge Lise really created a special day for all of us. Our bellies are full. Our wallets a little lighter. And most importantly, our hearts are little bit bigger for the people we are serving.
